Fundraising Appeal 2012

With the support of our donors, the Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship has had four productive years of operations. Two years ago we won a Templeton Freedom Award from the Atlas Economic Research Foundation for our original course development. Since then we have significantly increased our outreach to students through campus activities and online resources.

In addition to continuing our regular programs, we have several new initiatives for this coming year:

*  I have two current book projects. CEE funding enables release time for me for writing. I am also pursuing grants to enable me to take a leave of absence from my teaching duties to complete those books.

Shawn Klein is launching an interdisciplinary Sports Studies program. Sports require excellent mind-body development and are a vehicle for character-building. Sports are also big business and the focus of much economic and political debate. Over half of our students at Rockford College are athletes. So we see a good opportunity to reach a large number of students.

*  Translation projects. My Explaining Postmodernism was published in Portuguese in Brazil this year and several of my articles have been translated by others into German, Spanish, Korean, and Serbo-Croat. We plan to take the initiative in commissioning translations of scholarly works.

*  Last year we videoed and put online my entire Philosophy of Education course—over 50 hours of lectures. In 2012, we will do the same for my Business and Economic Ethics course.

* We will be rolling out a new Profiles in Liberty series of video interviews, featuring extended discussions with Douglas Rasmussen, David R. Henderson, Tibor Machan, and Douglas Den Uyl. Future interviewees include David Kelley, Eric Mack, and other prominent classical liberal intellectuals.

I hope you will consider supporting CEE through a donation that will make our fifth year of operation the most productive yet. You can either donate through the PayPal link on the left or you can donate through the mail:
