Prize-winning student presentations on Japan and Venezuela

During the Fall 2007 semester, the Center offered prizes for the best two student projects in Professors Hicks and Rezazadeh’s Capitalism in the Modern World course. The projects involved researching a country’s political and economic history, and students were judged on the basis of the quality of their analysis and the effectiveness of their presentations, both oral and written. The winners, Paul Lindsay and Emily Wallen, received $300 each. Below are brief video clip excerpts of their presentations.

Four student presentations on the lives of major entrepreneurs

In the new CEE-sponsored course, Entrepreneurship and Ethics, students were asked to develop in-depth case studies of a major entrepreneur’s life, character, style, challenges, and innovations. Student presentations included Stacy L. Moore on Andrew Mellon, Khetsiwe Dlamini on Richard Branson, Goran Mamic on Mayer Rothschild, and Bridget Markin on Coco Chanel. Professor Shawn Klein quoted in Wired Magazine

Rockford College philosophy professor Shawn Klein was quoted in Brendan I. Koerner’s Mr. Know-It-All column in Wired Magazine’s April 2009 issue. Klein responded to a question concerning losing and humiliation in sports competitions. He has a follow-up to the article on his blog. Professor Klein will be offering his sports ethics course again during the Fall 2009 semester.
